Mid-America Reformed Seminary began with four students last September. When her second semester begins in February, she will have at least eight students-seven full time and one part time. The original students came from Iowa, Florida, and California. The incoming students are from Korea, Michigan, California, and Iowa.
Sun Myong Kim is the son of a Presbyterian minister in Korea and a graduate of Busan National University. He spent one semester in Pasadena, California, at the International Seminary (headed by Dr. John Kim) before proceeding to Orange City.

Richard Basala, originally from Dearborn, Michigan, transferred to Mid-America from the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary in Pittsburgh. He may seek ordination in the Reformed Church in the United States (Classis Eureka).
Marvin Leese has given up his business in California in order to return to school beginning with the second semester. He and his wife have already purchased a house in Orange City.
John Broek is a businessman from Orange City who desires to serve the Lord as a lay preacher and evangelist. He is studying at the seminary part time in order to be better prepared for this type of volunteer work.
Mid-America was able to admit Sun Kim as a student because it is now registered with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service as a bona fide school for higher education. A key part of the registration process was a favorable recommendation of these other Reformed seminaries: Covenant in St. Louis, Reformed in Jackson, and Erksine in South Carolina.
We are grateful to God and to these schools for their extending to us the right hand of fellowship and scholarly recognition.
In the meantime we are already looking forward to receiving a second class of students in September. With this in mind the M.A.R.S. Board, which met the last week of January, made plans to augment the present faculty.
The seminary continues to invite the support of its friends. Contributors will be placed on the mailing list of the bi-monthly Mid-America Messenger.
Note: Dr. Timothy Monsma is the Academic Dean of the seminary which is located at Orange City, Iowa.
