Christmas Message

Could I proclaim in tones of clearest language, And spread abroad the words, that all could hear; I would waft forth a song this blessed season Of glorious hope, to men both far and near. Describing, too, the vigil of the shepherds, Who, trembling, heard the clarion herald voice; They joined the ecstasy of holy angels, And in that gladsome message they rejoiced.

Could I unfold the depths of our redemption, Revealing thus the Father’s wondrous love… But ah, I bow before a matchless wonder, Unfathomable, and from above! The human mind cannot discern such greatness, Nor can it plumb the Infinite’s great plan; But reverently we kneel, in awe-filled silence Before that Babe: Immanuel, “God with man.”
